Refund of trade union contribution for university employees
If you are a member of the AOb and if you work at a university or research institution and you wish to benefit from the refund of trade union contribution scheme, read on to find out how.
To obtain the refund, you may make use of your university or research institution’s selection model, in which case a maximum of half of your trade union contribution will be refunded. To obtain that refund, the AOb form that members received in the post this month is not required. The internal regulations of the university or research institution will tell you how you can continue to make use of the trade union contribution scheme and what options are open to you. In addition to increasing your end-of-year bonus, sometimes it is also possible for your employer to pay the refund in the form of annual leave or holiday pay, for example.
Proof
Your employer will often ask for proof that you are a member of a trade union and proof that you have paid the contribution. You can provide this proof with a print-out of your details from MijnAOb and with a bank statement showing your payments to the AOb.
If you pay the AOb contribution annually at once, you will receive a giro collection form from the AOb. You may photocopy this giro collection form. This copy is also proof of your membership and the amount of your contribution.
If you have any further questions concerning the refund of the trade union contribution, please e-mail the AOb’s Information and Advice Centre.
